Pedomint Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026 · Applies to Pedomint for iPhone

The short version

Pedomint is built local-first. Your step count is read on your iPhone, turned into a screen time budget, and never sent to us. We have no servers of our own, no user accounts, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.

1What Pedomint reads

  • Step count. Read from Apple Health (HealthKit) in read-only mode. It is used for one purpose: to calculate how much screen time you have earned today. Pedomint never writes to Health, and never uploads your step data anywhere.
  • Your guarded apps. When you pick apps to shield, iOS hands Pedomint opaque tokens through the Family Controls framework. These tokens cannot be reversed into a list of which apps you have installed — not by Pedomint, and not by anyone else. Pedomint can shield an app without ever learning its name.
  • App usage signals. When a screen time unlock window starts or ends, iOS notifies Pedomint through the Device Activity framework so the shield can be applied or removed at the right moment. This happens on your device only.

2Where your data lives

Everything Pedomint records — steps, coins, XP, streaks, freezes, themes and your guard selection — is stored in two places, both of which are yours:

  • On your iPhone, in a private container shared only between Pedomint and its own screen time extensions.
  • In your own iCloud account, if you leave iCloud Sync on. This keeps your progress when you switch phones. The data sits in your personal iCloud space under your Apple Account; the developer of Pedomint cannot read it.

Turning iCloud Sync off stops all syncing immediately and does not delete what is already stored.

3What Pedomint never does

  • No collection. Pedomint does not transmit your health, step or app usage data off your device to the developer or to any third party.
  • No sale or sharing. Your data is not sold, rented or shared with advertisers, data brokers or analytics providers.
  • No advertising or profiling. Screen Time and HealthKit data are never used for advertising, marketing or user profiling. This is a requirement of Apple's Screen Time API, and it is also how we want to build software.
  • No third-party SDKs. Pedomint ships without analytics, attribution, crash-reporting or ad SDKs. The only frameworks it links are Apple's own.
  • No account. Pedomint never asks for your name, email address or phone number in order to work.

4Subscriptions and payment

Pedomint Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and Pedomint receives only a confirmation that a subscription is active. We never see your name, your card number or your billing address. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

5Children

Pedomint is a self-control tool intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — we do not collect personal information from anyone.

6Your controls

  • Step access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Pedomint, or revoke access from inside Pedomint's Permissions screen.
  • Screen Time access: Settings → Screen Time, or revoke it from Pedomint's Permissions screen.
  • iCloud data: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
  • Everything at once: deleting Pedomint removes all locally stored data. Any iCloud copy can be removed from the iCloud storage screen above.

7Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what Pedomint does with your data, the new version will be published inside the app and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
